North East Care Services
Emergency
Respite Provision
NECS are delighted and excited to announce the opening of their new emergency provision, respite and bridging service.
The placements are short term (up to 90 days) with high staff ratios for each young person supported.
There is a strong focus on linking the outdoor activities to education and achieving accreditation through engagement.
Adventurous and outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, swimming and fishing are an integral part of the plan and complement high quality nurturing care which is committed to and focused on individualising the approach to meet the needs of every child placed.
Our service supports up to three children and young people, aged 10-17, who have or continue to be in crisis and may display a range of emotional, social and/or behavioural difficulties.
Our staff team are vastly experienced and trained in all aspects of crisis care. Our organisation is managed by the Director who has extensive experience of working with young people suffering crisis and or trauma. This is evident in the commitment given to the achievement of positive outcomes for all the children/young people that we are privileged to care for:
NECS framework for practice is research led and evidence based and is wrapped around the individual needs of all children and young people.
NECS believes that the staff they employ are their most valuable asset and make a major contribution to the services’ success. We ensure that staff are fully vetted through the Safer Recruitment Process and receive on-going training and qualifications to complete a vital role in promoting the best outcomes for children and young people.
NECS is privately owned, driven by values, with an aim to provide the best care to young people by working in partnership with local authorities and are constantly looking at how we can improve.
Taking part in cultural activities is actively promoted for all, not just because this is a legal right, but also because this helps to educate all young people about the multi-cultural society in which we live, and also to celebrate diversity. Our staff team has developed resources and links in the local community to help to ensure that all cultural, linguistic, and religious needs can be met dependent on the individual.
Staff actively share with the children/young people the interests they have in various sports and hobbies in order to provide the young people with positive role models.
We understand that activities and leisure, especially when accessed in the community, can be a resilience factor helping to stimulate and inspire our children and young people. That activities and leisure can support the development of pro-social behaviour and social competencies, and also be a vehicle to assist in social inclusion. The promotion of activities and leisure is a fundamental element to our model of care, due to the positive holistic benefits, including the opportunity to experience success and achieve in one way, shape or form.
Our service actively consults the children and young people in this area, and also introduces them to a great variety of activities so that hopefully the children and young people find something which becomes special to them and meets their individual specific needs.
